A living showcase for BC magazines, with an interactive cover gallery at its centre and a custom WordPress foundation behind it.
MagsBC represents the magazine publishers shaping stories across British Columbia. Its website needs to introduce that community, help readers discover publications, and support the practical work of running a membership association.
I’ve worked with Sylvia and MagsBC for many years. Over that time, we’ve built a relationship grounded in trust: she knows I understand the organization, and we can work through ideas together as its needs change. What began with Design Guidelines and a website has grown into program tools, accessibility work, and ongoing improvements. The latest evolution brings that work together in a custom, hand-built WordPress theme, with the magazines themselves leading the design.
The first thing you see is a field of magazine covers moving through space. They vary in size and speed, receding and fading around the words “The Home of BC’s Magazine Industry.” Each cover opens its MagsBC member profile. The interaction makes the collection something to explore, with a direct route into the people and publications the association supports.
The magazines are the first thing you notice. The work behind them makes the whole site easier to use.
“Lara Kroeker is nothing short of a miracle worker. Incredibly creative, focused, and skilled, every time she works on our website, Lara finds innovative ways to make it new, fresh and dynamic, showcasing our association and the BC magazine industry in the best possible light. At the same time, Lara continues to improve our website’s useability and accessibility, underlining the association’s commitment toward greater inclusivity. We’re lucky to have her.

CanAsia Game Summit needed a brand and a website ahead of its team's trip to Tokyo Game Show. I built the identity, the microsite, and the print materials that traveled with it.
One brand. Several programs. A system that can keep growing.
