The last bits and pieces of any project are always tedious. Moshi and I (and Juma) have been at the site everyday making sure that things are getting done and little by little they are slowly finishing. Today a small team was here to take pillar measurements and tomorrow they will install the solar panels and get everything ready for pump hookups, the final piece of this project puzzle.
I brought my computer and Moshi and I sat at the distribution point near the borehole and recorded the narration for the infrastructure video. I then sat editing for a few hours while neighbours walked their goats and stopped to say hello, school kids passed by saying my name in their sing song voices and Juma shot targets with his slingshot while I warned him not to hurt and eat the birds.
There is one more video that I still need to shoot and edit, the water flowing, and there is not a chance in hell that I am going to miss that. We have worked too hard and I have extended my ticket home to June 4th. I am homesick but I would never forgive myself for missing that.
The engineer said that it would all be finished for May 29th so we shall see.
