POST 1: Head in the Clouds

The first part of a journey is the most exciting for me because nothing has happened but an entire adventure has already played out in your head.  I’ve already been to Tanzania.  I’ve already met Moshi and said an excited hello.

I’ve already gone to the village to meet the community.  I’ve already seen the water flow.  I’ve already played soccer with the children at the school.  I’ve already planned a company with Moshi and Florence.

…but I am not even there yet and the closer I get the more fear sets into my bones.  Fear that my luggage won’t make it.  Fear that I won’t be able to find the hotel at 2:30 in the morning after 2 days of traveling (never buy the cheap layover tickets!).  Fear that Moshi won’t make it to Dar.  Fear for my safety.  Fear that Zoe will not be able to finish all her school assignments.  Fear that the well will not work.  Fear that the community will not welcome us.  Fear that I did not bring enough.  Fear that I brought too much.  Fear that I am making a huge mistake.

Too many hours in a seat on the plane makes you think the best and the worst all at the same time.
