Iyoli Water Project
Iyoli Village in Tanzania is in need of a clean water supply. The Iyoli Water Project and Innovation: Africa (Visit website) have teamed up to dig a well in this small village. Innovation: Africa is a non-profit on a mission to bring innovative solar and water technologies to remote African villages. They have provided one million people across Africa with access to vaccines, light, and water and we are so pleased to be partnering together on this project.
In March of 2016 I went to Iyoli primary school in Tanzania with a projector and generator to show the Iyoli storytelling club Strathcona media creations and help create the Iyoli content as part of the international exchange. We walked with the kids to collect water which opened our eyes to the severity of their water situation.
In February of 2018 (hopefully) we will have the funding for this project and I will return to document the construction of the well which will be 120 metres deep as determined by the water survey that was done in 2016. We have quotes from various drilling companies and solar pumping options. The whole project will cost about $50,000USD and is being funded by Innovation: Africa.
