Strathcona Elementary, a public school in Vancouver partnered with a village school in Iyoli, Tanzania and followed a curriculum used by both schools that used storytelling and art to learn about themselves and each other. Teachers, Perry Buchan and Doug Sherrett were part of the team who developed and implemented this curriculum which peaked the curiosity of the kids to learn more about each other so they came up with a series of questions to ask.
We filmed kids in both places answering these questions and had them translated into Swahili and English whaich were screened them in Iyoli and later in Vancouver. This became the #H2OPE Campaign that created awareness about the water issues in this small Tanzania village.
These videos were shared on social media platforms with the global community and as a result Innovation Africa agreed to fund a much needed well in their small village.
